The powers and duties of the city street light committee are to recommend to the city council the installation or removal of street lights within the City of Columbus. The committee adopts guidelines which will provide for the uniform accommodation of fixed source lighting within the public right-of-way within the City of Columbus.The city street light committee consists of the director of public works, the superintendent of the water and light department or designee, the chief of police or designee, and one council member. The council member shall be appointed by the mayor in May, subject to confirmation by the common council.
