Dog Licenses

Section No. 14-61(a) of the City Code states that all dogs 5 months or older are required to be licensed.

Section Number 14-62(a) states all owners to have dogs vaccinated against rabies. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required. Dogs must be vaccinated within 30 days after the dog reaches four months of age.

Requirements for License                                                                          

Please provide the following

  • Name, address, phone number, email address, dog(s) name(s)
  • Current Rabies Certificate for each dog
  • Cash or check made payable to the City of Columbus

(Please note that dog license payments must be paid separately from property tax payments)

  • $15 per dog / spayed or neutered.
  • $30 per dog / not spayed or neutered.
  • $15 late fee per dog – applies after April 1.

Section Number 14-61(j) of the City Code states that owners who fail to obtain a license prior to April 1st of each year are subject to the late fee.

Kennel License

Kennel licenses are not available in the City of Columbus.
