The City of Columbus snow policies will be in effect beginning November 15, 2021 and lasting through April 15, 2022. Please be aware of updates to the Columbus Snow Removal Ordinance and Winter Parking Ordinance. These ordinances had parts that repealed and replaced in September 2021.
The Snow Removal Ordinance features changes to Section 86-226 in which "No person shall cause snow from his premises to be deposited onto the sidewalk abutting thereon or onto any street in the City." and changes to Section 86-227 which prohibits depositing snow onto another's property.
Section 98-79 concerning Winter Parking Regulations was repealed and replaced now states "A snow emergency is declared when a snowfall is predicted by the National Weather Service to reach a depth of 3 inches or more during any period of 24 hours or less." Residents and visitors will be unable to park any vehicle on any public street or alley in the downtown area of the City between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. after a snow emergency has been declared. Additionally, no one may park any vehicle on any public street or alley in the City at any time after a snow emergency is declared and until after the snow emergency is lifted.
Residents and visitors will now notice new signage regarding snow emergencies. The City will post snow emergency notification signage at all entryways into the City and activate or display them when a snow emergency is declared and will deactivate or remove the signs when the snow emergency is lifted.
