Gas in the area of the 600 block of Farnham Street has been turned off following a gas leak. The threat of the leak has subsided, but residents may be without gas until the pipe is repaired and gas is turned back on. Construction of Highway 89 is still going on with street closures in effect.
A large gas leak has been detected in the 600 block of Farnham Street, Columbus, WI. A gas line was hit by construction crew. Residents are being contacted by the Police Department to evacuate the area. Please avoid this area until it is declared safe to do so. It is not affecting any school buildings.
The Community Center, located at 161 N. Dickason Boulevard has been made available to those who may be displaced by the gas leak. Emergency Management and the Red Cross have been contacted.
