[ARCHIVED] October 24th - 28th is Halloween Freak Week!

Freak Week kicks off with Take 'n Make Crafts for some spidery fun! Monday, October 24th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Stain Glass Spider and Cute Lil' Spider Pin crafts will be available for pickup at the Community Center, located at 161 N. Dickason Blvd.

Taking place in the upper level of the Fireman's Park Pavilion is Halloween Bingo on Tuesday, October 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Come early and don't be late! Adults and children are welcome with lots of fun, holiday decorations, treats, surprises and more!

Halloween Movie in the Pavilion takes place Wednesday, October 26th at 7:00pm in the Fireman's Park Pavilion. Doors open at 6:15pm. Dress up in your favorite costume for a costume parade at 6:45pm with prizes given for Best Overall, Funniest, Scariest, and Most Creative. The movie is free, and bags of treats will be given to enjoy while watching. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets, pillows or chairs to sit on.

Throughout the week, check out the participants of the Halloween House Decoration Contest! From cute to scary, local participants share their wicked ways and talents. Judging is based on originality, creativity, and overall "WOW" factor. Last year's community vote winner was Aleece Weycker. For those wishing to participate, entry forms are available in the Commotion.

Friday night hosts two events - the Pumpkin Hunt and Community Bonfire! Beginning at 7:00pm until 10:00pm at Kiwanis Park, the Community Bonfire is a party under a thousand stars! Bring your friends and some chairs and enjoy the evening with music. At 8:00pm until 9:30pm, also at Kiwanis Park, kids will be searching for hidden "pumpkins"! Participants will register at 7:30pm at the Kiwanis concession stand. Participants will be given a number and hunt for the "pumpkin" with the same number. Return the "pumpkin" to the Open Shelter in Kiwanis Park to redeem for a gift bag!

Don't forget to dress up your pets for the Pet Costume Contest! Deadline for entries is Friday, October 28th with judging taking place Tuesday, November 1st. Any pet entry is welcome. Participants will need to email photo, and contact information to recreation@columbuswi.us

To ensure enough goodies are given, all participants in the Bingo, Take 'n Make, and Pumpkin Hunt Freak Week activities will need to register online.
