Virtual Beginning Piano for Adults with Catherine Brick
Friday, January 7, 2022
This online course is for adults who want a jump start to playing the piano for pleasure, or a refresher for those who have played piano in the past. We will start with the basics of reading music and finding the notes on the keyboard, then move on to chords and key signatures in a down-to-earth method for getting your hands into the music as quickly as possible. The ability to read music is a plus, but not a requirement.
The library has six portable keyboards available to check out, or you may use your own electric keyboard or piano. The library will also provide easy-to-follow instructional materials to accompany the online lessons with music teacher Catherine Walters Brick.
A digital version of the book for the course will be sent with the link to the Zoom class, but is also available in printed form for checkout at the library, whether or not you also reserve a keyboard. When you call to reserve a keyboard, you may also ask to check out a book. You will need to make an appointment to pick up either item.
All you need is a smart phone, tablet, or computer to follow along with the online instruction. You do not need to know how to read music, although it will be helpful if you remember some of it.
To participate, you must register. Please click here to register. For questions or details on how to check out the keyboards, call the library at 920-623-5910 and ask for Catherine.
